Story of Moses ~ Days 1-4

From auditions and practices, to costumes and props, to set up and construction ~ it amazes me to be able to get an inside look at what it takes to build an incredible production like The Story of Moses.  Last year my daughter was in the Story of Jesus for the first time and I spent some time there during those weeks and was fascinated at what I saw.  I will be sharing some of that soon from last year.  This year is a monumental year for Power and Light Productions.  It is year 30 of producing biblically accurate, life changing productions witnessed by over 500,000 spectators during that time impacting countless lives.  This year, for the first time ever, they will produce The Story of Moses.

The monstrous, 250-foot, authentic set built annually has been used to perform accurate reenactments of the Bible’s biggest and most dramatic stories, including the Story of Jesus and The Story of Noah.  This year will be no exception to those amazing reenactments.  It will be the first time that The Story of Moses will be performed in this Cattleman’s arena in our small town of Wauchula.  Yep ~ Wauchula ~ I promise it will be worth the drive to our little town!  The vision of one man in our little county has brought together a cast of about 200 people from over 35 churches and 100 live animals for a nationally known production that has been featured in the New York Times, the LA Times and the Washington Post.   Just watching the practices the last couple of months, I know that The Story of Moses will be just as amazing as The Story of Jesus and The Story of Noah.  (Never been before?  Check out the official trailer from the Story of Jesus!)

So this year, I decided that I wanted to document as much of this production as possible.  From the practices, to the set up and construction, to the actual production ~ I hope to show just a little glimpse at what it looks like to put all of this together.  There are some absolutely amazing people who work tirelessly to make this happen.  So ~ here goes!

Days 1 through 4 ~ Construction begins

Starting with a clean slate, these hard workers start to lay the backdrop and foundation for this enormous set while they also start to get the casting area ready to move in.

The storage trailers start to get unloaded to organize all the building materials and items for the set.  Props start getting moved into the casting area.

As costumes and props get offloaded and organized, a small group of men and some ladies unload a massive amount of materials from this trailer.  This is one of the hardest nights.

The Story of Moses starts March 31st for 5 weekends on Friday and Saturday nights.  Tickets went on sale this week and can be purchased by stopping by Real Life Church just south of Bowling Green, calling 863-375-4031 or visiting their website http://storyofmoses.org/home.html.  Group rates are available.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see the incredible story of Moses in this amazing production.  Be sure to like their Facebook page, share it with your friends and get your tickets now!
